About Us

Heifer Quest LLC. was founded in 2004 by a partnership of three long time friends who have been very successful in many different phases of the dairy industry. Their expertise and years of experience can be found in the areas of milk production, veal production, and cheese manufacturing and marketing as well as whey and whey products. Each partner has actively utilized new innovations and technologies in each of their business endeavors and has grown because of these innovations.

In 2004 they decided to utilize another new technology to enhance segments of their previous businesses and to open new areas of business for their partnership. With their previous experience it was only natural to move into the production side of the milk business with an innovative approach to increasing the number of heifers available to dairymen and increasing the profitability for all. Thus Heifer Quest LLC was born to sell sexed semen to the profit minded commercial dairyman.

After this initial phase the business has grown at a rapid pace and has already exceeded the original business goals. Heifer Quest is going to be your source for superior genetics in the future. Technology

Heifer Quest markets sexed semen from a patented semen sexing technique provided by experts with several years of experience. Sexing semen is done by using the process of flow cytometry. Since male and female sperm have different amounts of DNA they are slightly different in size and will flow through a sensitive filter system at different rates. The process physically separates the two kinds of sperm. Then the selected sperm can be used to create the desired sex animal for the producer. This process is not 100% perfect but all trials and field tests have shown a very high degree of accuracy (greater than 90%). The advantages of having a desired sex animal are extreme for the breeder and producer.
